The Madrid daily now adds that the proposal was for €25 million plus variables, an insufficient sum to persuade the Alvalade club. Sporting is counting on the 21-year-old Spaniard, who is set to reclaim his starting spot at right-back now that he has recovered and is ready to relegate Vagiannidis to the bench.
In the interim, Roma moved on in the transfer market, signing Nahuel Molina from Atlético de Madrid for €13 million to fill their right-back position.
