With Ousmane Diomande's imminent departure from Sporting to Nottingham Forest, the Lions' management has no choice but to enter the transfer market to reinforce a sector that will be left without a key player. Last season, Diomande featured in 31 matches for Sporting, contributing one goal and one assist. These numbers were somewhat subdued due to an injury that hampered the Ivorian for a significant portion of the campaign.

Ibrahima Ba of Famalicão, who was previously linked with Benfica and saw a move to Strasbourg fall through, was a player on Sporting's radar. However, at this point, his transfer to Alvalade is off the table.

What is certain, however, is that several players are on Sporting's shortlist. This list will be narrowed down before a chosen option is pursued. The new signing will join Gonçalo Inácio, Zeno Debast, and Eduardo Quaresma, who will form the core of the central defense once Diomande's sale is finalized.
