The transfer of Giorgi Kochorashvili to Sevilla is expected to see significant progress this week. The Andalusian club has made the Georgian international a top priority and is now more receptive to making a permanent move for the 27-year-old midfielder.
While Sevilla's interest is concrete, the terms of the deal have been the main sticking point. The standoff stems from Sporting's demand for an immediate sale – to recoup the €5.5 million invested in his acquisition from Levante – while Sevilla faces severe constraints due to financial restrictions imposed by LaLiga.
Nevertheless, there's a strong belief that the impasse will be overcome. Sevilla coach Luis García views the player as the ideal replacement for Swiss international Djibril Sow, who moved to Genoa for €4 million.
Despite a season that fell short of expectations (26 games and 992 minutes), the midfielder left a strong impression in Spain, excelling at Levante where he earned the nickname "Captain America" for his goal celebrations.
For personal reasons, the player also prefers a return to Spain, maintaining proximity to Portugal, his girlfriend's home country.
The transfer now hinges on a final agreement between the clubs, as Getafe and Deportivo also monitor the player's situation.
