Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso is set to extend his contract with Aston Martin for another two years, keeping him with the British Formula 1 team until the end of 2028.
This is according to Spanish newspaper Marca, which cites anonymous sources close to Alonso and within Aston Martin's management.
Earlier today, Aston Martin's Mike Krack indicated that the team is awaiting Fernando's decision and is keen to continue their collaboration.
It was revealed earlier this year that Alonso and the team were already in negotiations, with Aston Martin reportedly offering the Spaniard an increased salary of up to $40 million per season. Both parties are said to be aiming for a new two-year deal. The renowned Spanish driver is currently believed to be earning $30 million annually, with his current contract expiring at the end of 2026.
