Spanish referees are demanding an end to attacks against them and better treatment from football clubs. This comes days after the highly publicized Madrid derby between Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid (2-1), following which the "Royals" blamed the officials for their defeat.
On Tuesday, a meeting of the Coaching Committee in Spanish football was held, attended by Fran Soto, who was present as the president of the Referees' Committee. He insisted on respect for the figure of the referee, urging coaches to show "solidarity as leaders of their teams" with the aim of continuing to humanize the refereeing profession.
“We can only draw or lose,” stated the referees' representative.
A large number of La Liga coaches attended the meeting, including Hansi Flick (who quickly departed to attend his team's afternoon training session), Diego Simeone, and Edin Terzić. However, José Mourinho was absent. Representatives from La Liga 2 were also present, as were specialists currently without a team, such as Eder Sarabia and Marcelino García Toral.
