MADRID, May 7 (Reuters) - Spain's ruling People's Party (PP) would win a general election if it was held today with 25.6 percent of the vote while the socialists would take the second seat with 24.3 percent, a closely-watched opinion poll showed on Thursday.

Upstart leftist party Podemos would come third, but its support is seen dropping to 16.5 percent from 23.9 percent in January.
