The Spanish national team has set an impressive new record for the most consecutive minutes without conceding a goal in FIFA World Cup history. Their remarkable run reached 649 minutes before finally being broken.

The streak came to an end during their 2-1 quarter-final victory against Belgium at the 2026 World Cup. Charles De Ketelaere scored the goal for Belgium that ultimately halted Spain's record-breaking defensive stand.

The previous record was held by Italian goalkeeper Walter Zenga, who went 517 minutes without conceding a goal during the 1990 World Cup.

Spain last conceded a goal at the World Cup in Qatar, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Japan in the group stage. Since then, "La Furia Roja" had kept a clean sheet in all subsequent matches, including the knockout rounds of the previous tournament and their games in the current championship.
