In a significant statement signaling a shift in strategy, Adam Silver has opened the door to a potential collaboration between the NBA and the EuroLeague. The commissioner of the American league spoke to reporters, advocating for coexistence rather than rivalry with Europe's premier basketball competition.

"The best solution will be for us to move forward together with the EuroLeague, rather than two leagues competing against each other," Silver stated emphatically, sending a clear message to the European side.

The Commissioner also referenced the new EuroLeague CEO, Chus Bueno, with whom he previously worked at the NBA. "With the new CEO, Chus Bueno, we were colleagues at the NBA for many years. We arrived at a specific approach aimed at growing the sport across Europe. This means we want to complement the national leagues, and work together with both the EuroLeague and FIBA," he added.

According to Silver, his colleague, Mark Tatum, has already briefed the NBA Board of Governors on the progress of the NBA Europe initiative, for which, he noted, there is "tremendous enthusiasm."

Finally, regarding the issue of NBA expansion with potential new teams in Seattle and Las Vegas, Silver clarified: "We haven't announced that the league is expanding, but rather that we are examining the data for its expansion. There are also some owners who don't see a need to expand from 30 to 32 teams."
