Turkish international Tarik Biberovic (25) could unexpectedly find himself without a spot on the Dallas Mavericks roster despite agreeing terms this summer.

The Zenica-born forward could end up as collateral damage following the Dallas Mavericks' decision to extend Dwight Powell on a new one-year deal.

According to renowned NBA insider Marc Stein, Biberovic is among the candidates who could be waived following the veteran big man's signing to clear financial and roster flexibility.

"League sources say the Mavericks conveyed to Powell that they intend to make an earnest effort to find a way to keep the longest-tenured player in franchise history active, though it is currently difficult to see how they will manage it," Stein reported, adding: "The easiest contracts to shed, relatively speaking, belong to three players Dallas would ideally like to keep: Tarik Biberovic, Marcus Sasser, and Moussa Cisse."

The Mavericks already carried a full 15-man standard roster before re-signing Powell, casting serious doubt over Biberovic's immediate NBA future ahead of the new season.

Selected 56th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, Biberovic finally made the jump stateside after eight seasons with Fenerbahce, though it remains to be seen whether he will get the opportunity to make his NBA debut this term.
