Shengelia follows former coach, Spanish reports confirm his next career move!

Ever since Tornike Shengelia made the decision to leave Barcelona, several EuroLeague teams were vying for his signature. Olympiacos, Fenerbahçe, and even Partizan were all reportedly keen on bringing the Georgian power forward into their ranks.

However, it appears Shengelia – who has, without exaggeration, been considered one of EuroLeague's most dominant power forwards for seasons – will ultimately sign with Dubai. According to Spanish portal Encestando, Toko has chosen the club from the United Arab Emirates, which will soon activate his 900,000 euro buyout clause, reuniting the Georgian with Xavi Pascual, with whom he collaborated last season at Barcelona.

The same source also states that Shengelia is aware he is 35 years old and doesn't have much time left to win the EuroLeague, seeing Dubai as the perfect opportunity. And why wouldn't he, especially with the ABA League champions already bringing in Elie Okobo and Jaron Blossomgame? Add to that Musa, Kabengele, Bertans, Petrušev, Anderson, and Bacon, and it's clear Dubai will be one of Europe's strongest teams next season.

Last season, Shengelia averaged 12.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, and there's no doubt he will be a massive, pivotal reinforcement for Dubai. This is particularly true given that he and Pascual already know each other well, evidenced by their desire to continue their collaboration beyond Blaugrana.

It's worth remembering that Partizan was reportedly in the running to sign Shengelia, but it seems the 900,000 euro clause ultimately proved too high for the black-and-whites.
