Factional leader of Boko Haram, Abu Musab Al-Barnawi, has predicted that rival leader Abubakar Shekaus faction will be defeated by the Nigerian army.

In the video, Al-Barnawi said Shekau's leadership of the terrorist group is a betrayal of the intentions of its dead founder, Mohammed Yusuf.

He said Yusuf created the group to share the good teachings and practice of the Islamic religion in the country.

He accused Shekau of doing the opposite of that with his criminal attacks against Nigeria since he became the group's leader eight years ago.

After a violent clash between the military and the group's followers in 2009 led to the death of more than 700 people, Yusuf was killed by the police, making Shekau, who was then his second-in-command, the group's new leader.

Over the years, he has claimed responsibility for violent acts committed by the group, that has led to the death of over 20,000 people and displaced millions.

Al-Barnawi created a separate faction after Shekau rejected his declaration as the new leader of the group by the the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) who Shekau had previously sworn allegiance to.
