With 330 million people living within a 3-hour journey of Shanghai, Disneyland Shanghai is anticipated to become the world's most-visited theme park, attracting at least 15million and as many as 50million guests a year.

Shanghai Disney finally opened it's gates to teeming fans yesterday, Thursday June 16th amidst heavy downpour.

According to reports, thousands of people streamed through the Magic Kingdom's doors, which opened 30 minutes early.

The opening was marked by a ceremony which had Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng, Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang and Disney's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bob Iger in attendance.

Already, over 600,000 people have already visited the park since the soft opening in early May.

The entrance fee of Shanghai Disney has been set at 499 yuan (about N50,000) during peak periods and 370 yuan (about N12,000) for other times.

Construction on the Shanghai resort started inn 2011, and it is Disney's sixth in the world and the first in mainland China as there is already one in Hong Kong.

The resort reportedly cost a whooping $5.5billion, making it one of the biggest ever foreign investments in China.
