First, our cadets captivated everyone at the World Championship in Turkey. Our young men clinched a silver medal, showcasing exceptional character throughout the tournament. Their remarkable grit and competitive spirit were particularly evident in the semi-final against the hosts, where the smallest details made the difference.

Nikola Kusturica, Matija Lukić, and the rest demonstrated their potential to be future leaders of the team. Unfortunately, they lost in the final to the USA, a team that boasts an incredible 58 wins and no losses in this category. There's nothing to fault them for; they brought yet another medal to Serbia. On top of that, they are also the reigning European champions, clearly indicating that this generation possesses something truly special.

Their older counterparts impressed us no less. The junior national team secured Serbia's first medal since 2015. Nemanja Jovanović's squad appeared unstoppable for much of the tournament, only to run into an inspired Slovenian team in the final, who played like the Golden State Warriors.

Regrettably, the journey for these slightly older "Eaglets" ended with a silver medal, but this should not be seen as a failure. This team is mature, with many qualities that will translate well into senior basketball. These young men, with their fantastic team chemistry, truly deserve praise. They will return home with silver around their necks, having shown that the future of our basketball is indeed bright.

The summer of 2026 belongs to these young men, barely old enough to drive. Who knows, perhaps among them is a new Nikola Jokić, and we all know how many Nikolas Serbia has produced in its youth categories.
