Serbia – Australia (Tip-off at 7:45 PM)
Pre-Game
In the opening match, Serbia secured a confident victory against Madagascar. Nenad Nerandžić was the team's driving force, dominating the paint from the very beginning. His teammates quickly joined in, and the win was never in doubt. Nerandžić was also the top scorer with 10 points and four rebounds, Nemanja Barać added five, Strahinja Stojačić four, and Andreja Milutinović two points.
The second match against Spain was significantly tougher. The game started physically, with the first points scored only after nearly two minutes of play. Strahinja Stojačić played a key role in the victory over the world champions, being the first to find his rhythm and hitting the shot that definitively broke the opponent's resistance. Stojačić finished the match as the top scorer with nine points, while Nerandžić scored four and Milutinović three.
Ždero: Important wins, but we're still searching for our offensive rhythm
The head coach of the Serbian 3x3 national team, Marko Ždero, was pleased with the outcome of the first day of competition.
Two important wins. The first game against Madagascar was defensively solid for a while, but then our concentration lapsed, and we conceded some easy points. Luckily, we finished the game well. What's more important is the win against Spain, a game we prepared for last week in Novi Sad. We were precise and defensively aggressive. I think we're still finding our groove on offense and need to get into a better rhythm, especially by starting to hit the open shots we create. It was an important and excellent first day of the World Championship, but we're taking it one step at a time.
The Serbian 3x3 team continues its campaign today, June 3rd, with matches against Australia (7:45 PM) and Austria (9:35 PM). The games will be broadcast on TV Arena Sport 5 Premium and RTS 2. You can follow a live text commentary of the match on Sportal.
The first-placed team from the group will secure a direct spot in the quarterfinals, while the second and third-placed teams will play in a play-in round for a place among the top eight. The knockout stage begins on June 6th, with the medal matches scheduled for June 7th.
