Serbia Dominates EuroBasket: After Poland, Relentless Young Eagles Crush Lithuania!
Right from the tip-off, it was clear that the young Eagles, fresh off their opening victory against Poland, were determined to secure a second triumph at the EuroBasket in Ljubljana, and that the Lithuanian squad would struggle to thwart their intentions.
The Lithuanians managed to keep pace only for the initial five minutes of the game, after which the Serbian basketball players took control and dictated the tempo. Nemanja Jovanović's team concluded the first quarter with a six-point lead (18:12), which proved to be just a prelude to the spectacular performance that unfolded in the second quarter.
During this period, the young Eagles unleashed their full offensive power, scoring an impressive 32 points while limiting the Lithuanians to a mere nine. This effectively settled the outcome by halftime, with the score standing at 50:21. Serbia's dominance in that second quarter was highlighted by a 17-0 run, as they scored with remarkable ease from under the basket, in the paint, and from long range.
Following such a dominant first half, it was expected that the young Eagles might slow down slightly in the third quarter. The Lithuanians capitalized on this, narrowing the deficit to 63:43. However, they lacked the strength to push further. The young Eagles played a routine final quarter, ultimately securing a 79:57 victory.
Andrej Lučić and Nikola Džepina led the scoring for Serbia with 12 points each, while Uroš Šuput added 11, and Marko Tofoski contributed ten points.
For Lithuania, Mantas Juzenas stood out with 13 points, and Jokubas Rudaitis chipped in with 12.
Our boys now have only one remaining group stage match against Latvia, scheduled for Monday at 4:00 PM.
