"Red carpet selfies are ridiculous and grotesque" - Cannes Director

Director of Cannes, Thierry Fremaux has described selfies as a waste of time on the red carpet, slowing down the whole event of the day.

And that is why the red carpet of the Cannes film festival this year has been declared selfie free. According to Fremaux, left to him he would be banning the whole selfie act but it is not within his power to do so.

If you remember, just recently, Prince Harry revealed his thoughts on selfies – he is not a fan.

However, In the past, celebrities have stopped to pose with their colleagues (or sometimes even alone) while they take a quick selfie on the red carpet.

And after Ellen Degenerees’ world famous selfie at the Oscars last year, selfies in mainstream Hollywood awards have become more prominent.
