Sean Strickland Blasts Khamzat Chimaev: "You're a Cheater, You Didn't Make Weight"
During their final face-off before UFC 328, Sean Strickland launched a scathing attack on Khamzat Chimaev, accusing him of failing to make weight. Despite being kept at a significant distance, Strickland didn't miss the opportunity to verbally jab his opponent.
On Friday evening, the UFC held its ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 328, where all fighters, or almost all, faced off one last time before the highly anticipated event.
Following Thursday's UFC 328 press conference, Chimaev and Strickland, who are set to battle for the middleweight title on Saturday, had a heated confrontation during their face-off. Chimaev kicked Strickland before security intervened. This time, the UFC took no chances, keeping the two fighters safely separated. While physical blows were avoided, Strickland used his time at the microphone to hurl insults at his opponent, even claiming the Chechen fighter hadn't actually made weight for the bout.
“I’ll keep it short, guys: This coward tried to kick me in the nuts!” Strickland yelled. “You’re a f***ing b*tch! This f***ing b*tch didn’t even make weight, you f***ing cheater! F*** you, son of a b*tch! B*tch!”
Chimaev visibly struggled to cut weight for this fight, hitting the 185-pound limit precisely but appearing in rough shape. However, as he had done throughout the week, Chimaev didn't directly respond to Strickland's comments, instead delivering an ominous warning to his rival.
“I love this idiot,” Chimaev said. “I’ll show you tomorrow night.”
