Wayne Rooney May Have Passed His Peak - Says Ex-England International, Paul Scholes
Former England and Manchester United Midfielder, Paul Scholes has come out to say that Wayne Rooney might have his England shirt and World Cup place taken away as he could be way past his peak.
Paul Scholes who worked with Rooney as a player and coach at Old Trafford at the end of last season has also come out to challenge the 'undroppable' status of the player from the club and country. He said the 28 year-old may not be able to catch up with the game anymore and may likely retire anytime soon whilst risking the chance of loosing his place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Scholes wrote in his Paddy Power blog: ''Wayne was in the Everton team at 16 years of age, in 2003. Since then he's played at Euro 2004, two World Cups, Premier League, and Champions League every year at United. There's a chance he's worn out.''
Speaking on Wayne's probable retirement, he said: ''Wayne might be a player who'd retire come 31 or 32, given the amount of football he's played.'' The former coach concluded.
