Following the cancellation of Rally Saudi Arabia, the World Rally Championship (WRC) season will conclude this weekend at Rally Sardinia on the Mediterranean island.

Heading into the finale, Elfyn Evans tops the drivers' standings on 230 points, holding a 17-point cushion over Sami Pajari and a 21-point advantage over Oliver Solberg. These are the only three drivers still mathematically in contention for the world title in Sardinia.

Given his buffer, Evans is the clear favourite, but the Welshman cannot afford to relax. A victory for the Toyota driver would secure him the crown outright, regardless of how Sunday's bonus points are distributed.

However, a second-place finish for Evans opens the door for Pajari. To overhaul the leader, the Finn must claim the rally victory and score at least nine bonus points on Sunday, with Evans failing to score any bonus points. Solberg faces an even tougher task: the Swede needs Evans to finish outside the podium without bonus points, while he must collect at least 33 points across the weekend to leapfrog the Welshman.

Solberg does hold one key tie-break advantage over both Evans and Pajari due to his results across the season. Should Solberg and Evans finish level on points, the title will go to the Swede courtesy of more race victories. In the event of a points tie between Solberg and Pajari, Solberg would also prevail thanks to more second-place finishes. If Pajari and Evans finish tied, Pajari would take the honours with more wins.
