Tobias Harris Agrees to Two-Year, $31 Million Deal with San Antonio Spurs; Mark Stein Reports Texas Club Not Expected to Pursue LeBron James
Free agent Tobias Harris has reached an agreement on a two-year, $31 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
According to Marc Stein, the Spurs' deal with Harris "categorically confirms" what league sources have been suggesting – that San Antonio is not expected to make an offer for LeBron James.
Harris, who turns 34 mid-month, departs the Detroit Pistons after a productive return stint with the team and now joins the young Spurs squad, led by Victor Wembanyama, in the Western Conference.
With Harris's acquisition, San Antonio gains an experienced forward capable of playing both frontcourt positions, providing size, scoring from mid-range, creating space on offense, and adding valuable playoff experience.
During the 2025/26 regular season with Detroit, Harris averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, shooting 46.9% from the field.
He also played a more significant role for Detroit in the playoffs, where he averaged 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.
Harris entered the NBA in 2011 after one season with the Tennessee Volunteers college team. He was selected 19th overall in the 2011 NBA Draft by Charlotte.
He began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks before playing for the Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, LA Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and then returning to Detroit.
San Antonio will be the sixth team of Harris's NBA career.
In his NBA career to date, Harris holds regular season averages of 15.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
