Salah's Farewell to Liverpool: A Journey of Trophies, Emotion, and Records (vid)
In a surprising turn of events, recent news has confirmed that Mohamed Salah will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
Both parties announced the end of the Egyptian magician's nine-year journey at Merseyside. In light of this, Sportal takes a look back at Mohamed Salah's achievements in a Liverpool shirt.
A Chelsea flop... a Liverpool king
While Mohamed Salah achieved legendary status with the Reds in the Premier League, this wasn't his first stint in the world's top flight.
Few may remember the Egyptian winger's unsuccessful spell at Chelsea, following his €16.5 million transfer from Basel in January 2014.
In London, he never found his footing or a defined role, making just 19 appearances with a total of two goals and three assists across all competitions.
Loan spells at Fiorentina and Roma followed, where he truly found his form, especially with the Giallorossi, showcasing glimpses of his immense talent.
Chelsea never truly believed in him, and in July 2016, they sold him to the Rome-based club for €15 million.
At Roma, he became the undisputed star. After 41 appearances, 19 goals, and 14 assists, he caught the eye of Jürgen Klopp. Liverpool secured his signature in the summer of 2017 for a fee of €42 million.
Although many doubted his ability to succeed in the Premier League after his time at Chelsea, Salah proved them wrong from his very first season, breaking the goal-scoring record (32) for a 38-game season.
Salah silenced his critics, and in doing so, Jürgen Klopp found the leader around whom he would rebuild the Reds, aiming to return the club to its winning ways.
And so it happened. With Salah on the roster, Liverpool returned to the pinnacle of European football, winning the Champions League against Tottenham in 2019. A year later, they ended a 30-year wait by clinching the Premier League title.
His nine years at Merseyside were decorated with eight major trophies, and he also won the Premier League Golden Boot four times.
Furthermore, he is tied for third in European appearances for the club with 94, level with Sami Hyypiä, and behind only Steven Gerrard (130) and Jamie Carragher (150).
Salah also holds the record for the fastest goal ever scored by Liverpool in a Champions League match, finding the net after just 55 seconds against Midtjylland in December 2020.

Salah's "Brotherly Bond" with Kostas Tsimikas
Beyond his undeniable contributions on the pitch, Salah became a much-loved figure in the Reds' dressing room during his tenure.
One of the most heartwarming off-field stories of his time at the club was his close friendship with Kostas Tsimikas. From the day the Greek international left-back arrived at Liverpool in 2020, Salah became his mentor and best friend.
Tsimikas has repeatedly stated that Salah helped him adjust, not just on the pitch but also mentally.
The two were inseparable during training, travel, and celebrations, with Salah often calling him his "brother." The sight of them teasing each other on camera became a hallmark of the positive atmosphere in the dressing room.
Even though the Greek defender left for Roma on loan in the summer of 2025, their bond remains exceptionally strong, as evidenced by Tsimikas's emotional post following the news of Salah's departure from Liverpool.
In his post, Tsimikas wrote, among other things: "Thank you for your daily company over the last 5 years, the laughs, the talks, the achievements, for pushing me to become a better person, and for being my inspiration on and off the pitch."
Mohamed Salah departs Liverpool at the end of the season with a record of 255 goals and 122 assists in 435 appearances. He is the third-highest goalscorer in the club's history, behind only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285).
He is widely regarded as one of the greatest foreign players to ever wear the red shirt. As he said in his farewell message, he leaves knowing that he will "never walk alone."
