Former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook isn't overly concerned about his future in the league, but he's made it clear he still plans to continue playing.

Westbrook emphatically stated that he isn't particularly excited about where his career will take him next. Despite still being a free agent without a signed contract, the former league superstar remains eager to continue competing in the NBA.

"Honestly, I'm not thinking about it," Westbrook told CNN's "The Story with Alex Michelson" when asked about his next move.

The 37-year-old guard spent the 2025-26 NBA season with the Sacramento Kings, averaging 15.2 points, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds in 76 games.

Previous reports indicated that the Kings were considering re-signing Westbrook, viewing the former NBA star as a potentially crucial mentor for their new cornerstone player, Darius Akuff Jr.

If Sacramento ultimately doesn't bring him back, the veteran could play for his seventh different NBA team since 2019. He's had stints with the Houston Rockets (2019-20), Washington Wizards (2020-21), Los Angeles Lakers (2021-2023), LA Clippers (2023-24), and Denver Nuggets (2024-25).

Given his statistics, Westbrook still appears capable of being productive and contributing on the court. And considering the Kings' positive view of him as a mentor for Akuff Jr., he could also make an impact off the court.

As he continues to search for the next chapter in his career, Westbrook remains patient, awaiting a new opportunity.
