Following the race, the Briton explained that he lost power towards the end because he lifted off the throttle while passing through the yellow flag zone in Turn 15. This yellow flag was deployed after Valtteri Bottas crashed head-on into the barriers.
"It's fantastic to be back on the top step of the podium. I want to extend a huge thank you to the team for continuing to believe in me during the tough times and helping me get back here. I'm proud of the weekend I've had.""The first half of the race was quite calm, building a gap. At the restart, with Max right behind me, I thought, 'this isn't going to be easy,' he drives incredibly. When the yellow flag came out at the end, I lifted, and when I got back on the power, I had no turbo, so I had no power, and Max almost overtook me. That would have been a shame, but overall, a great weekend.""I think the experience with these new cars and the driving style I've adopted since the summer break are helping me get stronger. I feel more like myself, which is really great.""My plan for the rest of the season is to win every race. My teammate has had a fantastic season, flawless so far, but now we're entering the final stages. But I'll focus on myself. If I continue to deliver performances like this weekend's, regardless of how the season ends, I'll be happy because it's been a really tough period for me, and I feel like I'm coming out the other side now," Russell stated.
