Right now, it seems so. There is a resolution to it all. The episodes are over. The saga is at its end, and everyone must live with the peace that had eluded them for so long.

From the suburbs of Lagos, to the courtrooms of New York, the battle for rights within the EricMany record label had raged, with threats and counter threats, a torrent of legal papers and many more being exchanged like cannonballs raining in a medieval war.

But all of that is over. And it is because of what is reported below.

Runtown has settled the rift between him and his label Eric Many entertainment.

The singer has over the past couple of weeks been in a legal battle with label over contract breaches, emotional abuse and disrespect.

According to new information being reported, the pop singer and his boss Ukwudili Umenyiora resolved to settle the case out of court with the help of the Olaniwun Ajayi law firm, following a court hearing on June 14, 2016 in New York.

The new deal which was fashioned with contribution by all parties, will see Runtown spend one more year in EricMany Entertainment, but with greater control over his work, his numeration, and finances.

‘"Runtown and Dilly agreed to settle out of court and Runtown will remain with the label for one more year but its now more of a partnership deal because it gives Runtown more control,’"a source told NET.

There are also reports that Runtown is looking towards the future, as he has concluded plans to set up an independent record label. The new outfit will be named ‘Power In The Music (PITM), and will have the singer as the CEO.

Who Won?

Everyone is a winner but one. Runtown gets to leave the record label that hasn’t exactly been profitable to him and his quality of life. The label has housed his music and his brand for over two years, and his quest to leave them has become a success. Although he will have to give them another year of his life, but the light at the tunnel means the singer can look forward to that. He also gets more control of his business in this one year, and stands to have more money in his pockets.

Bugwu Aneto is also a big winner. Runtown’s manager, the man has been by his client at every point in time, looking out for his back, protecting his interests, and shielding him from the erratic hands of his boss. The new deal he has reached on behalf of Runtown means he also gets more money, and most importantly, keeps his happy client.

Ambimbola Fakeye Esq. Runtown’s lawyer is also a winner. When the earlier injunctions did come through, it was Fakeye who masterminded the legal aspects of the case, prodding and prepping his client with replies, legal language, and termination of his contract. This resolution is a technical victory for his work.

Losers

Ukwudili Umenyiora aka Dilly. There’s no way the lights at EricMany Entertainment will not dim a little. By this time next year, they will have lost their money bag. Runtown is their flagship artiste, and his exit leaves a gaping hole in their arsenal. Sure they have the powers of a certain Presh signed to them, but he is in no way comparable to Runtown. They have a year left to search for another act, and begin the promotions to get him to a commercial position. It’s like taking 10 steps back from a winning position.

The Runtown case has also left their mark on his reputation too. A CEO of a company that does not honour contracts, uses threats to life as a stimulant for having his way, and employing underhanded tactics to squeeze loyalty is not one worth having. He will sure find more willing desperate acts who will sign on a contract from him, but nobody worth their salt will want to commit their futures and careers into his hands.

The one year that he has left will Runtown will offer some sort of comfort, so also will the digital sales and streaming of the singer’s catalogue. But that isn’t enough. EricMany has just lost their golden goose.
