Ruby Gyang is out with her EP, “This Is Love”, and early listening from fans and critics have made them delirious with good reviews coming in from many.
But right before you go get yours, Pulse Music gives you everything you should know about the EP.
Conception
“This Is Love” EP is Ruby’s brain child. Ruby’s claim to general recognition came two years ago. The song ‘Good man’ warmed its way into the hearts of many in 2014, standing as a beacon of exquisite vocal delivery which still remains on the playlists of many. That marked the success on which this EP is based. Subsequent songs are yet to achieve that status.
Ruby is a singer of love. She loves the concept of it all, the giddy highs, the debilitating lows, the long nights, the fights, the joys, the sadness, the warmth and fleeting security that human relationships promise. And she pours all of this into her creative time. Her love overlaps with her creative energy, and together they birth musical joy.
Release
This is the second time “This IS Love” EP has been released. The first release came last year, right before Chocolate City merged with Loopy Music. Back then, she had access to limited cash flow and the distribution power that she now enjoys from a more structured record label.
Also, the industry was still in the process of setting local digital distribution services that are tied as value added services from the telecommunication firms. MTN has properly set up the Music Plus service, and Etisalat now has Cloud9 as their front.
Ruby’s record comes into an industry undergoing sweeping changes and transformations. She is availing herself of this by first releasing the EP exclusively to MTN Music Plus.
To further spread word on the release, the singer has released a classy video for her single ‘Shakara’ featuring Ajebutter22.
Production
Production on the album is shared among a fine talented posse of music men with lable boss, M.I Abaga, returning to his first love behind the console, and contributing to the work. Others include the premium work of Cobhams Asuquo, Chopstix, L37, Kahli Abdu, Charlie X, Shady Bizniz, and Sizzle Pro.
Collaborators
Ruby Gyang backed by her A&R team selected a fine group of singers and vocalists to complement her romantic singing, and bring out the beauty of a song. Every feature was a melodic asset to their track, with each upgrading the entire work by their writing and delivery.

Conclusion
Ruby’s possesses sublime vocal talent, far beyond what she currently understands and can deliver, and it shows. ‘This Is Love’ isn’t a true reflection of her strengths. If anything, it a good compilation to keep things ticking over while she gets to work for that killer album.
