Former Manchester United captain and current English football pundit Roy Keane didn't mince words when responding to Rodri's statements regarding the scandal swirling around Manchester City for the past week.
The current Barcelona midfielder had expressed his belief in Manchester City's innocence concerning the potential sanctions facing the club. However, Keane vehemently disagreed, firing back at the Spanish footballer: “It was about time. This has been going on for a very long time. Of course, I don't agree with Rodri's message. That was his decision, but the club chose to cheat.”
The case remains under review. It's worth recalling that City was found guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against the club for breaching financial rules between 2009 and 2018. “Whatever they've won in recent years, they deserve to be punished,” Keane remarked.
The Irishman was adamant that the punishment should be severe: “It's hard to know where to begin and end with this. They cheated and were found guilty. Now they have to face the consequences. It's shocking to be found guilty on 114 charges.”
