Following a crushing 3-0 defeat to Brighton, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior did not hold back in his criticism of the team, labeling their performance as "unacceptable" and "indefensible" in a scathing post-match interview.

The Blues were thoroughly outplayed on England's south coast, conceding goals to Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood, and Danny Welbeck. This marked the team's fifth consecutive league defeat, a negative streak that intensifies the pressure on the manager. Notably, Chelsea hadn't lost five straight league games without scoring a single goal since... 1912.

During the match, fans voiced their displeasure with Rosenior, whose position was already under scrutiny before this latest setback. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Englishman was unsparing in his assessment.

When asked if this was the worst performance in their recent run of poor results, he was direct: "By far. It was unacceptable in every aspect. Unacceptable in terms of attitude. I've been publicly defending the players, but tonight's performance was indefensible. Something has to change drastically here and now."

The 41-year-old coach, who took charge at the beginning of January as Enzo Maresca's successor on a six-year contract, continued his severe critique. "We have to look in the mirror. I have to look in the mirror. I can't keep coming here defending some of the things we're seeing," he stated, adding that despite feeling an improvement in the game against Manchester United, the "overall attitude and spirit were lacking tonight." According to Rosenior, "perhaps three or four of the 11 players were at their level, which is not enough for this club."

With Chelsea now seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool, and Champions League qualification becoming increasingly difficult, pressure on the manager is expected to mount in the coming weeks.

Rosenior described the night as the toughest of his career. "It's a very, very difficult night. The toughest night, not just here at this magnificent club, but in my career. Some of the things I witnessed today, I never want to see again," he lamented.

"To even be accused of throwing in the towel is unacceptable. That's all I'm going to say. I'm hurt. This doesn't represent me. It doesn't represent the club in any way, and that has to change, starting with the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday," he concluded.
