With this victory, the Hornets improved their record to 39-34, tying with the Orlando Magic for eighth place in the Eastern Conference. If they maintain a playoff position, it would be the franchise's first postseason appearance since 2016. The young player emphasized the team's desire to play in meaningful games.

I think it's all about committing to what we do and establishing a team identity. Our coaching staff has done a really good job with that. There's definitely a lot of support from all our guys right now. We want to play in important games. This was an important game. All our remaining games are important, like playoff games. They determine our seeding, and we want to give ourselves the best possible chance for the playoffs. - Kon Knippel

Young Shooter's Historic Feat

The young player has also established himself as one of the league's most dangerous shooters and currently leads in three-pointers made. He entered the game with 247 successful threes, setting a new record when he hit his third shot from beyond the 7.24-meter line against the Knicks, reaching 250 for the season (now at 253).

According to official NBA data, he became the youngest player in history to make at least 250 three-pointers in a single season and the only player under 22 years old to achieve that feat. For comparison, Steph Curry made 166 three-pointers during his rookie season (2009/10).

The fourth pick from the 2025 NBA Draft is averaging 19.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists this season, with a three-point shooting percentage of 43.6 percent.

Shattering Curry's Record

On Tuesday night, in an exciting game against the Sacramento Kings, Knippel set a new NBA record for most three-pointers made in a single season, surpassing the previous record held by Steph Curry.

The brilliant shooter finished the game with eight successful three-pointers, bringing his season total to an incredible 403, while Curry, in the 2015-16 season, set the bar at 402 threes.

This is an incredible feeling. Steph is someone I've looked up to throughout my career. Breaking his record is truly special and a testament to the hard work and dedication I've put into my game. - Kon Knippel
