«Win the Nations League or reach a thousand goals? Both. A thousand goals and the national team. To try and win this Nations League. It's a new era. I want to congratulate Coach Martínez for the excellent work he accomplished, being of a different nationality, which is very difficult, given the constant attacks he faced. It's a new era with Coach Jorge Jesus. I'm sure he will do an excellent job. Jorge Jesus was a perfect choice. Different tactics, different language. I hope things go as well as possible. We are all confident. I think the team is ready; it will be a long challenge, the coach will be here for many years. I'm sure it was the best option,» he stated in a press conference, when questioned about some of the criticism he occasionally receives.

«I can't be 100 percent honest. I've been playing football for so many years and have been well-received almost everywhere. Some channels like to attack me and try to 'kill' me, but they have no chance, only with a shotgun. And even then, I'd dodge the bullet. But I'm used to it. At Estádio do Dragão, I could even understand it due to the rivalry... At Luz, no, because apparently, we can't play there, at least that's what I read... But a handful of people not liking me doesn't affect me,» he affirmed.
