Rodri, the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner and the standout player of the last World Cup, touched down in Barcelona on Monday at 8:15 PM local time (7:15 PM Lisbon). He is scheduled for a medical examination on Tuesday before signing a contract with the Blaugrana until 2030.

The Madrid-born midfielder spoke briefly to journalists awaiting him at the airport, expressing his excitement and immediately setting his sights on winning the Champions League.

"I'm incredibly happy. It's been an intense few days, but I'm thrilled to be here. Playing for Barcelona is a dream, and I'm eager to meet my new teammates. I want to work hard and give my absolute best. Now, we're going after the Champions League and everything else," he declared, always with a smile.

Rodri represents Barcelona's marquee summer signing, joining a roster that also includes Anthony Gordon, Adeyemi, Bisiwu, and João Cancelo.

Barcelona and Manchester City have reached a preliminary agreement for the player's transfer, a deal that will cost the Catalan club a fixed €60 million. This figure could rise by an additional €11 million in variables, contingent on titles won.

Tuesday's agenda includes the customary medical and physical examinations first thing in the morning. This is the final hurdle before the contract signing, which will tie him to Barcelona until June 2030. His official presentation is slated for the same day, starting at 1:00 PM, provided all bureaucratic procedures and document exchanges with Manchester City are completed on time.

Expectations within the Catalan club are that Rodri could be unveiled as early as Wednesday at Camp Nou during the Joan Gamper Trophy. Barcelona's opponents will be Egyptian side Al Ahly, ahead of their LaLiga opener on Sunday against Elche.
