Rivers: "We have one star, others have more"

Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers attributed his team's postseason elimination to the lack of a second star on the roster, unlike their competitors, as well as the injury problems that plagued the team.

Following the Bucks' 127-95 loss to the Spurs, which officially eliminated the "Deer" and dropped their record to 29-44, Rivers spoke to reporters about the reasons for their unsuccessful season, now shifting focus to the upcoming 2026-27 season.

The veteran coach expressed his disappointment, emphasizing that continuous absences determined the team's fate.

"It's frustrating. Since I took over, we've never had all our players healthy. Key players like Giannis and Lillard were always missing. You hope you can still be competitive, but we didn't have that luxury," he stated.

Rivers then compared the Bucks' roster to those of other teams in the league, highlighting the difference in quality.

"This year we only have one star, while every other team has two or three. What we needed was health. Our roster was limited. We knew that even before the season started, but things didn't turn out the way we wanted," he concluded.
