In an interview she had before the Olympics, Ukogu said "It is my ultimate goal to be the 1st Nigerian to row at the Olympic Games.

"Heading into Rio, it's a really wonderful opporunity for Nigeria. This is the first time we've had an athlete at the Olympics in the sport of Rowing.”

Also, the Nigerian U-23 team beat Japan 5-4 in their first Group B game in the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics.

This good news from Chierika Ukogu might soften the attacks on the National Olympic Committee(NOC), who came under-fire as the Team Nigeria outfits could not make it to the opening ceremony of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
