Two police officers shot, killed in Mississippi

Two police officers conducting a traffic stop were shot and killed on Saturday in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and at least one suspect fled in a police vehicle which was later found abandoned, authorities said. Police were conducting a manhunt in the area for two male suspects, about 80 miles (129 km) southeast of Jackson. Officials advised residents to remain indoors.

Detroit airport terminal evacuated for 2 hours, man detained

A terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Airport was evacuated for nearly two hours and a man was taken into custody after he made comments to airline employees that raised concerns, an airport spokesman said on Saturday. Nebraska police search for missing boy after mother found slain

A 4-year-old boy died when he was visiting the a Texas cemetery with his family and a nearly 100-year-old headstone fell over and struck him in the head, authorities said. The child, whose named was not released, was brought to the Odessa Regional Medical Center on Friday where he was pronounced dead, Corporal Steve LeSueur, a spokesman for the Odessa, Texas, Police Department said on Saturday.
