Curry spices up Warriors in series-tying win over Grizzlies

Stephen Curry lived up to his Most Valuable Player status with 33 points as the Golden State Warriors brushed aside the Memphis Grizzlies 101-84 at FedExForum on Monday to even their Western Conference semi-final series at 2-2. Curry shot 11-for-22 from the floor, including 4-for-9 from three-point range, as well as adding eight rebounds and five assists. It was the point guard's fourth 30-point game of the 2015 post-season.

Ducks snuff out Flames threat to reach West final

The Anaheim Ducks beat Calgary 3-2 in overtime on Sunday to reach the Western Conference final for the first time since their Stanley Cup winning season in 2007. Ducks winger Corey Perry, who left the game briefly in the second period with a leg injury, swept home the Game Five winner in a goalmouth scramble 2:36 into overtime to book Anaheim's place in the conference final against Chicago.

Ex-Duke basketball guard Sulaimon to play for Maryland

Rasheed Sulaimon, who in January became the first player ever dismissed from the Duke University basketball program by coach Mike Krzyzewski in his 35 years at the school, will play for the University of Maryland, school officials said on Monday. A month after Sulaimon left the school, the Duke student newspaper reported that Sulaimon had been accused of sexual assault by two female students, who have never filed formal charges.

NFL suspends Brady for four games, hits Patriots hard for 'Deflategate'

The National Football League came down hard on the New England Patriots on Monday for their role in Deflategate, suspending star quarterback Tom Brady for the first four games of next season and fining the franchise $1 million. The NFL also said the Patriots will forfeit their first-round selection in the 2016 draft and a fourth-round pick in 2017 for using under-inflated footballs in last season's AFC Championship game.

Teague leads Hawks over Wizards to tie series

Atlanta guard Jeff Teague scored 26 points as the Hawks beat the Washington Wizards 106-101 to square their Eastern Conference semi-final playoff series at 2-2 on Monday. Paul Millsap scored 19 points and Al Horford had 18 and 10 rebounds for Atlanta, who are top seeds in the East.

Jordan pushes Clippers closer to first Western final

Center DeAndre Jordan's double-double led the Los Angeles Clippers to the brink of a first Western Conference final with a 128-95 win over the Houston Rockets at the Staples Center on Sunday. With 26 points and 17 rebounds, Jordan was one of six Los Angeles players in double figures as the Clippers took a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series ahead of Game Five at the Toyota Center in Houston on Tuesday.

Former world middleweight champion Sergio "Marvellous" Martinez plans to retire from boxing within the next few weeks because his "knee is shattered". "I am a boxer, my knee is shattered. I am 40 years old, I'm getting wrinkles and my hair is falling out," Martinez was quoted as saying in Argentina's La Nacion daily on Monday.

Ex-NFL star Hernandez charged in 2013 shooting of witness

Former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez, who was convicted last month of murdering an acquaintance in 2013, was charged on Monday with the non-fatal shooting of a man believed to be a witness to another murder of which Hernandez is accused. Prosecutors in Boston on Monday charged Hernandez, 25, with violating Massachusetts witness intimidation for shooting a man in the face in February 2013 after the man made a remark about a 2012 double shooting, according to the Suffolk County prosecutor's office.

Mexico name Copa squad, save 'Chicharito' for Gold Cup

Mexico named their 23-man squad for next month's Copa America on Monday, with coach Miguel Herrera leaving out Real Madrid striker Javier Hernandez and several other European-based players with an eye on the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July. PSV Eindhoven's Andres Guardado, Porto pair Hector Herrera and Diego Reyes, and brothers Giovani Dos Santos and Jonathan Dos Santos of Villareal were also among those left out but are expected to play in the July 7-26 Gold Cup.
