Reports in England: Ratcliffe's Reign Branded a 'Disaster' as Glazers Left Shocked by Man Utd Decline

The Glazer family is growing increasingly dissatisfied with Sir Jim Ratcliffe's handling of Manchester United, despite the British billionaire acquiring a minority stake specifically to take charge of football operations. According to reports in The Sun and the Daily Mail, the American owners are disillusioned with the club's trajectory under INEOS and believe the situation at Old Trafford has deteriorated significantly since Ratcliffe's arrival.

A source close to the Glazers told the Daily Mail: "It's a disaster and not what they were expecting or were promised. They never ran the club like that." Additional reports cited by ESPN highlight an even harsher stance from the American camp. "The fans were always chanting against the Glazers, but I'm not sure they realise just how badly Jim is doing. He could hardly have created a worse situation. He has lowered standards across all departments. It is the complete opposite of the strategy he announced," the source claimed.

The Glazers' discontent stems from both on-pitch performances and decisions made by the new hierarchy. Manchester United slumped to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season, crashed out of the Carabao Cup following a shock defeat to fourth-tier Grimsby Town, and have endured a torrid start to the current campaign. The redundancy of over 500 club staff, alongside questions surrounding managerial stability and transfer strategy, has caused further alarm.

Ratcliffe acquired a 25% stake in Manchester United in February 2024 for around £1.25 billion, assuming full control of sporting operations while the Glazers retained their majority shareholding and ultimate authority over any future sale. The British billionaire also committed a further £245 million investment, primarily earmarked for infrastructure upgrades. However, relations between the two sides appear increasingly strained, with United's financial health and declining market valuation deepening the American owners' concerns.
