French car manufacturer Renault has announced the launch of its latest motorsport project. The next-generation Clio Rally5 will be based on the sixth iteration of the brand's popular supermini, with its official competitive stage debut scheduled for 2027.
The car will be built in accordance with the FIA's revised Rally5 technical regulations, which come into force in 2027. Renault emphasized that the project's primary objective is to provide an accessible gateway into rallying, tailored specifically for privateers and promising young drivers aiming to advance their motorsport careers.
The current Clio Rally5 has been a fixture in national rally championships for years, particularly across grassroots and amateur series. Renault enjoys a strong presence in France, where the manufacturer organizes its own dedicated one-make cups on both tarmac and gravel.
The new generation of the Clio Rally5 will also make its initial bow on French soil. The French marque confirmed it will run two single-make championships in 2027—one on tarmac and one on gravel—before making the car available to international markets at a later stage.
Renault has yet to disclose technical specifications or pricing details for the new machine. A full official launch is expected in the coming weeks, along with the announcement of the 2027 race calendars for both one-make series.
