Real Madrid has responded to La Liga president Javier Tebas, stating that he is not doing his job. The reaction comes after statements Tebas made earlier on social media, in which he criticized the club and its complaints about the refereeing following the derby against Atlético Madrid.
Los Blancos' reply came in the form of an official statement, in which the club indirectly suggests that Tebas should step down from his position.
"In response to the statements made by the president of La Liga, Javier Tebas Medrano, Real Madrid wishes to state the following:
Our club finds it unacceptable for the president of La Liga to use his institutional position to continue to discredit and attack Real Madrid in the manner he does with every appearance. It is deeply concerning that the person responsible for representing and protecting the interests of all La Liga clubs remains obsessed with Real Madrid, making our club a constant target of his public attacks.
His latest intervention is particularly serious and incomprehensible, unacceptable for a responsible leader, as he is commenting on an article by an independent journalist in a digital media outlet. Yet, he reacts against our club, taking the liberty to assess our sporting strategy, which is completely reckless and irresponsible.
It is utterly surprising that the president of La Liga dedicates his time and personal channels to constantly attempt to publicly discredit Real Madrid, instead of contributing, from his position of responsibility, to building trust in the institutions that must guarantee the impartiality of the competition. In doing so, he continues to damage the image of our league and of Spanish football worldwide.
In light of this inappropriate and persistent behavior, we understand that the professional football league in Spain urgently needs a leader capable of managing it and developing its full potential with the basic duty of neutrality. It needs someone who understands the nature of their role, because the president of La Liga is not the owner of the competition, but a manager at the service of the clubs that comprise it and entrust him with its management. We, the clubs, need someone who will honestly serve this mission."
