Real Madrid Could See a Full Squad of Players Depart This Summer

Real Madrid could see as many as eleven players depart this summer as the club prepares for significant changes following a trophy-less season. Their elimination from the Champions League quarterfinals, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, coupled with a substantial deficit to Barcelona in La Liga, signal a barren season for Real Madrid. For one of the world's biggest clubs, this typically heralds a major overhaul. More than three new signings are already being sought for the summer, with the wish list including at least two defenders, a new midfielder, and a right winger. Alongside new arrivals, a wave of departures is expected, and head coach Alvaro Arbeloa's tenure at the club also appears to be drawing to a close.

According to "Sport," the defensive line will undergo the most significant changes. Dani Carvajal and David Alaba's contracts are expiring and are unlikely to be renewed, with the Austrian's departure already confirmed. Ferland Mendy and Fran García are also on the list of anticipated exits. In central defense, Antonio Rüdiger, whose contract is also up, and Raúl Asensio are considered potential departures. At 33, the German seems the most probable candidate to part ways with Madrid this summer.

In the midfield, the sale of Eduardo Camavinga appears increasingly likely after his red card played a crucial role in Real Madrid's Champions League exit. Furthermore, he has never managed to establish himself as a consistent starter in the center of the park. Two English giants – Arsenal and Manchester United – are believed to be in the best position to sign him.

Also in midfield, Dani Ceballos has reportedly decided to leave the La Liga powerhouse in search of more playing time. Ajax is believed to be interested in the Spaniard ahead of the summer transfer window.

In attack, the right-wing position, which Real aims to strengthen, could see major changes. According to Sport, both Franco Mastantuono and Rodrygo might leave. The Brazilian has been the subject of numerous transfer rumors in recent months, although a summer transfer seems complicated as the 25-year-old sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury and is not expected to return before October.

As for 18-year-old Argentine Mastantuono, who only arrived last summer for £38 million, a direct sale seems unlikely. However, the club might approve a loan spell to secure him more playing time away from the Bernabéu. Real Madrid has also made a decision regarding Gonzalo García, who could be sold this summer with a buy-back clause included. A significant, yet carefully managed, squad reconstruction is underway.
