Ramos: I was frustrated and wanted to leave PSG in January

AC Milan striker Goncalo Ramos has admitted he was frustrated by his fringe role at Paris Saint-Germain and pushed to leave the club as early as the winter transfer window. However, the Portugal international had to wait until the summer to seal his move to the Rossoneri, where he is now enjoying life as an undisputed starter.

"I wanted to leave PSG, but a January move is always tricky. It wasn't the ideal scenario, even though I was eager to leave back then. Looking back, I understand the situation better. PSG immediately said no because they would have needed to find a replacement. However, [sporting director] Luis Campos assured me he would let me go in the summer. It was difficult to walk away from PSG because the dressing room was truly fantastic. I spent all my time with my three Portuguese teammates [Nuno Mendes, Vitinha, and Joao Neves]. They knew I wanted to leave and constantly teased me to stay, if only for the great atmosphere. We shared so many memorable moments together.

"It was frustrating at times not starting. I scored in four or five consecutive matches without starting a single one—an in-form player who wasn't getting minutes. Still, I had to turn that frustration into motivation. My professionalism, work ethic, and determination could never be questioned. Of course I was upset, but I used that anger as fuel. Now, life is good and I find myself in a calm environment. I'm playing regularly for a club that gives me the freedom to express myself, and we're enjoying our football. On top of that, I'm featuring more for the national team, which is just as vital and gives me another platform to perform. That is a real point of pride. During the World Cup, I stayed in touch with [agent] Jorge Mendes, and Milan showed interest. Manager Ruben Amorim arrived at Milan and gave me a call. Then one morning, Mendes phoned to tell me a deal was in place," Ramos told Portuguese broadcaster Canal 11.
