This is a blogpost by Auntybspeaks... Life and living is all about balance, there are positive and negative effects to everything. Generally, neutral zone keeps one healthy for instance.

If one has low blood volume, he is said to be anemic, that is a problem, a disease. however, if he has high blood volume, it is also a disease.

So the lack of vitamins is a disease, however 'hypervitaminosis', where there is the presence of a high volume of vitamins, and therefore more than required for a healthy body, is also a disease.

Is it then a wonder that that there is a need for scales and balances? Talking of weights, an overweight person, is likely an unhealthy person, but an underweight person is unhealthy too.

Some TV commercials mean well obviously, I mean the companies just want to sell their products. I wonder though, with all the experts, in graphics, advertisement gurus, artists, actors etc that have round table discussions on how to go about advertising products, are there child psychologists there to express opinions from a child’s perspective? What laws govern the adverts that are shown in between children’s programs?

Okay… all the rant is because I have a story to tell. I must have been 5 years old at the time. Those were the days of the black and white television. Ours came on at 4:00p.m everyday, showing children’s programs till 6:00p.m.

I never missed this profound opportunity. Now fast forward to the days we live in. The children do not even know what channels to watch. And they can watch all day and all night, if they want! In our days TV went to bed at night, just like everyone else. LOL!

Anyway, I was fascinated at Superman. A mortal man who could move with such speed at the 'click of the fingers'. On this lovely afternoon, my mother received guests, a woman and her three children.

They were served drinks and biscuits. I realized that I wanted biscuit too, it was so inviting (maybe that is how Eve felt in the garden). So I did what any normal child will do, I went to ask mum.

I knew she had, because my mother had a small store that was called the 'sweet store' where she kept sweets and biscuits in bulk for occasions, to pack our lunch boxes etc.

My mum gave a thunderous shout “No!”. I was embarrassed and I moved away, sulking. Then I had a “eureka” moment... I could be superman.

The plan was to dash past and grab one biscuit, they won’t even know what hit them… so I  did...

I think from the time I grabbed the biscuit to when my mum grabbed by the neck, it would be 3 seconds. I cannot even express the punishment that followed.

Don’t get me wrong, superman is a great movie, but if a great movie like that can get misinterpreted by a 'foolish kid', and yeah, all kids do silly things, shouldn’t we be concerned about what our children watch?

Auntybspeaks.com gud to talk!
