Marquinhos revealed on Wednesday, in an interview with UOL, that a return to Brazil is a strong possibility after his European career concludes, naming Corinthians as his preferred destination. The PSG center-back, it's worth remembering, came through the youth ranks at the São Paulo club, departing in 2012 at just 18 years old for AS Roma.

The defender discussed his future, explaining that his contract with the Parisian club runs until June 2028. This means a potential return to Brazilian football could happen when he's 33, an age at which he believes he would still be in peak physical and technical condition.

Marquinhos emphasized the importance of returning at a high level, especially given the pressure associated with representing the Timão. "I have two more years on my contract with PSG, and then we'll see. If I ever go back to Brazil, I want to go back strong. And in Brazil, there's a lot of pressure, especially at the team I'd like to return to, which is Corinthians. It's the club of my heart, where I grew up as a boy at Parque São Jorge. But I can't go back falling apart," he stressed.

It's worth noting that the player's stint with Corinthians' senior team was brief. He was sold to the Romans after playing only 15 official matches for his hometown club, registering one assist. His biggest title with the club came at youth level, where he won the Copinha in 2012.

Despite the short stay, his affection for the club remains undiminished. "If I ever return to Brazil, Corinthians will certainly be a priority. It's the club that opened doors for me, where everything began. I have immense affection for them and would love to wear that jersey again," he explained.

The defender also recalled his departure, which at the time went against the wishes of then-coach Tite. "Tite wanted me to stay. The opportunity arose, the offer was very good at the time, and the Roma coach told me he would wait until the last day of the transfer window. Corinthians never got rid of me. Some market dynamics happened, and I was sold. Initially, it was a loan, but I started playing quickly, Leandro Castán had just arrived too, and everything worked out," he concluded.
