AMC has renewed its new show "Preacher," which is based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name.

AMC has renewed its new series undefinedwhich premiered on Sunday, May 22, for a second season.

The second season which will air in 2017, will expand its run to 13 episodes.

The TV series which is developed by Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Sam Catlin for AMC, is an adaptation of the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

"Preacher" was officially picked up on September 9, 2015, with a ten-episode order.

Plot.

Based on the twisted and popular ‘90s comic book franchise of the same name, “Preacher” tells the story of Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God.

The AMC series stars Dominic Cooper as Jesse Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy the vampire, Ruth Negga as Tulip, Colletti as  Arseface, W. Earl Brown as Sheriff Hugo Root, Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, and Elizabeth Perkins as Vyla Quinncannon.
