Postecoglou: "It's Not Pleasant to See Tottenham in This State"

Ange Postecoglou admitted it was incredibly difficult to watch Tottenham's 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on television, a team he himself managed for the past 12 months. The Australian added that he never imagined things would unfold this way, with Spurs now embroiled in a relegation battle in English football's top flight.

“I still care deeply about this team because of the players and some of the coaching staff who were also with me. We spent two years together, and that bond is lasting. If you had told me last May that I would be sitting here talking about two teams I managed in the coming months, I would have thought you were crazy. But obviously, that's exactly what happened. It was uncomfortable and certainly unpleasant. It doesn't sit right with me to see Spurs fighting for survival, because I'm still attached to this club,” Postecoglou shared.

“After all, those were two years that were far from easy, but I poured all my energy into working with the team. In my penultimate match, we even won a European trophy, which was our peak. The connection will remain forever, and it's not pleasant for me to see them in such a state. I never imagined things would turn out this way,” the former Tottenham manager added.

“The battle won't be easy, and relegation is tough for any club, but for Tottenham, it would be even worse. They still have every chance and the quality to stay up, but they also need a bit of luck,” Postecoglou concluded.
