Earlier this week, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) issued bonus payments for the team's participation in the recent World Cup, where Portugal were eliminated by Spain in the round of 16 (1-0). However, A BOLA understands that the federation only paid out partial amounts, with no official explanation provided so far.

The national team's backroom staff received just a third of the amount they were entitled to, and players were also affected, receiving less than expected. Under the previous board led by Fernando Gomes, the FPF typically settled tournament bonuses within two months of a competition's end. Portugal bowed out of the tournament against Spain on July 6.

Despite being unprecedented, the situation is reportedly being met with calm inside the federation.

Portugal's training camp in Scandinavia has otherwise been turbulent due to the situation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo. The captain left the Parken Stadium—venue for the upcoming Nations League fixture against Denmark—on Wednesday following Jorge Jesus' press conference and missed training. With Ronaldo's private jet also scheduled to fly to the Danish capital, speculation is growing that the forward could be on the verge of leaving the squad mid-camp.
