Quick-thinking police officers save life of baby who wasn't breathing
In a difficult situation, when every second counts, police officers from Radom, a city in east-central Poland, proved that they are true professionals.
Thanks to their quick reaction and first aid skills, a newborn's life was saved.
The police officers were patrolling the area when they were stopped by a car from which they heard cries for help. The passenger was holding a newborn baby who was not breathing.
Without hesitation, the police took action. Among them was Michał Bernaciak, a junior inspector, who recently took second place in the provincial qualifying rounds for the 9th National Competition of Police Rescuers with Qualified First Aid. Bernaciak took over the child and immediately started artificial respiration.
After a while, the newborn started breathing. Due to rush hour, the police decided to transport the child and mother to the hospital in a police car.
This incident shows how important the ability to provide first aid is, and how quick response and professionalism of emergency services are crucial in such situations.
