Paddy Pimblett has a significant amount of weight to cut before UFC 329.
British star Paddy Pimblett has mastered the art of weight cutting, yet the numbers on the scale between his fights remain impressive. Seven weeks out from his July 11th clash with fellow lightweight contender Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 329, Pimblett revealed in his vlog just how much weight he plans to shed for the bout.
According to the footage, Pimblett currently weighs around 191 pounds (approximately 86.6 kg) ahead of his fight with Saint-Denis, for which the lightweight limit is 156 pounds (70.7 kg). This means he needs to cut 35 pounds (about 15.9 kg).
“It’s good, of course, to have an opponent and a set date. Everything is ready for the fight, and I know how much time I have left,” Pimblett stated. “It all comes down to making weight and being ready for the match.”
Anyone following Pimblett's career is familiar with the Englishman's habit of gaining significant weight between fights, only to appear in perfect condition at the official weigh-ins. In his eight UFC bouts, Pimblett has never missed weight. Even for his interim lightweight title fight against Justin Gaethje at UFC 324 in January, he weighed in at 154 pounds, well under the championship limit.
Pimblett suffered a unanimous decision loss to Gaethje, ending his seven-fight winning streak in the UFC against formidable opponents like Michael Chandler, King Green, and Tony Ferguson. Now, he faces the in-form Saint-Denis, a crucial test to remain a top contender for the lightweight title.
