Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke ahead of his team's away fixture against Burnley tomorrow. A victory would see the Citizens leapfrog Arsenal to claim the top spot in the Premier League standings for the first time in 200 days.
"Immediately after the Arsenal match, we discussed the importance of maintaining our focus. Arsenal is currently at the top of the league, and as of today, they would be champions. Their prolonged stay at the summit demonstrates their quality and consistency. Now, we must strive to match them on points.
We've had significantly less recovery time compared to the past two weeks, with only two days. So, we need to assess everyone's recovery. We played a game that was demanding both emotionally and physically. However, we still have six matches remaining.
Both teams understand they cannot afford to drop points. It's always tougher for the team playing catch-up. After Arsenal, we now have to go to Burnley and perform at the required level," Guardiola stated.
The Spaniard added that Rodri, who was forced off during the derby against Arsenal, will not be available for tomorrow's match at Turf Moor.
"I don't think Rodri will be ready for tomorrow. We'll have to see about the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton. Rúben Dias is still not ready."
