The ceremony was organized by the Municipal Council and the island's council for its most famous citizen, as reported by "Mundo Deportivo." "This celebration is the recognition of an entire nation for a child from Tenerife who has filled us with immense pride," declared island president Rosa Dávila. Earlier in the afternoon, Pedri himself appeared on the balcony of the town hall and addressed the hundreds of people gathered in his honor. "I believe one of the best things in the world has happened to me. I think this town has made me a better person and a better footballer. I can only thank everyone," Pedri said.

"I never believed I would reach Barcelona, the Spanish national team, and win the World Cup. Sometimes dreams come true. Nothing is impossible," Pedri added. He has since returned to training with Barcelona and has ten days to regain his top form for the first La Liga match against Elche on August 23rd.
