Out of Favour with Guardiola, Duo Eye Spurs Restart

English football club Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly in talks with Manchester City over the transfers of attacking players Savinho and Omar Marmoush, British media reported on Thursday.

Tottenham Hotspur had previously shown interest in winger Savinho in 2025, when the 22-year-old Brazilian opted to remain at the Etihad Stadium. However, BBC and Sky Sports now report that Savinho, who started only seven Premier League games last season, is prepared to leave City. He joined the club in 2024 for £30 million from French side Troyes, a member of the City Football Group.

Marmoush, who moved from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in 2025, fell out of favour with then-manager Pep Guardiola last season. The 27-year-old Egyptian scored eight goals in 36 appearances across all competitions.

Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi has significantly revamped his midfield during the summer transfer window. He brought in Mateus Fernandes from West Ham and Sandro Tonali from Newcastle to the North London club, for an estimated combined fee of £185 million, according to AFP.

However, De Zerbi is also keen to bolster Tottenham's attack. Spurs narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 17th in the league table and scoring just 48 goals in 38 matches.

Media reports also suggest that Tottenham remains interested in Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo.

Spurs will kick off their new Premier League season on Saturday away at Brentford, while Manchester City will host Bournemouth on Sunday.
