EuroLeague CEO, Cuss Bueno, highlighted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport that a major challenge for the EuroLeague is the stagnation in TV rights and revenue.

"We're seeing stagnation in media, and to command more money, we need to delve deeper into the market and offer better viewership. We can achieve much more with the clubs – that's the plan. We currently lack a strategy to monetize this effectively," Bueno began his statement to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Bueno sees the solution in a comprehensive digital platform that would integrate everything – from games to additional content.

"We need to build a robust platform for the end-user. Not just broadcasts – it should include betting, merchandise, tickets, collectible content, fantasy leagues... If we consolidate all of this in one place, we can understand fan behavior and offer personalized content."

In this context, the EuroLeague+ project was announced.

We will be working on the EuroLeague+ platform, which will consolidate all these products. We've already started. I believe we will begin implementation and monetization within the next six to twelve months.Cuss Bueno

Another key topic is the introduction of a franchise model.

"How do you increase a club's value? By making it a franchise. This means a permanent license and the ability for long-term planning – investments spanning 20 or 30 years."

Changes to the competition format are also being considered, but without hasty decisions.

We are considering whether it makes sense to change the format. A 20-team system involves extensive travel and double-headers. The option of two conferences exists, but only if there are at least 22 teams. Otherwise, the number of games would drop by 25-30 percent, which would mean less revenue. We will have all the necessary information to make a decision by April 14th.Cuss Bueno

He also touched upon political issues, specifically the exclusion of Russian clubs from the EuroLeague and the relocation of Hapoel and Maccabi from Israel, as well as Dubai from the Emirates.

"For now, our stance on Russia remains unchanged. The same applies to Israel and Dubai, but we are monitoring the situation daily."

Finally, he addressed the situation with major clubs like Real Madrid and Fenerbahçe, who have yet to sign new contracts.

"I believe they will sign, and I hope it's soon. We need answers in the coming weeks, as the format of next season depends on it," Cuss Bueno concluded.
